U.S. RecidivismToo High? Yes!

Nearly 40 percent of the U.S. prison population — 576,000 people — are behind bars with no compelling public safety reason, according to a new report from the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law. The first-of-its-kind analysis provides a blueprint for how the country can drastically cut its prison population while still keeping crime rates near historic lows.

Do Your Part -Vote

MAY 8, 2020

Due to the Corona Virus Pandemic I won’t be physically going to the polls to vote.  I had greatly anticipated my 2nd times voting.  I was looking forward to participating in the entire process.  It just seems a bit risky to vote at the polls this year.  So I got my mail-in ballot and voting.  I’m encouraging anyone that can vote to do so.  Take care and be safe.

LB83 Begins Another Journey

Omaha District 13 Senator, Justin Wayne has introduced LB83 in his 3rd attempt to abolish the two-year waiting to vote for returning citizens upon the completion of their sentence.  Here are some talking points on why the bill should be passed.

Voting Disenfranchisement Bill Introduced

20161212_190103January 11, 2019

A public thanks to Senator Justin Wayne of District 13 for reintroducing this week LB83 at the Nebraska legislature.

As many of you may recall Senator Wayne introduced this effort two sessions ago. It was narrowly defeated by the governor’s veto. Its aim then as well as now is the elimination of the two-year waiting to restore the voting rights to returning citizens upon completion of their sentence.

LB83 is an effort that should be supported and passed.
Part of that effort will entail public support for the bill, testifying at the committee hearing on the bill, writing letters support to your senator encouraging him/her to vote for the bill.

Justus15vote will continue to supply information regarding this effort and what you can do to assist in getting LB83 passed.
